I used to be able to control Apple TV with my Sony Bravia TV remote. All of a sudden, two days ago, it stopped working. I have done everything. I can still turn Apple TV on and off but I could no longer navigate. When I try "Learn Remote", it doesn't recognize it. I'm not sure if there was a software update that created this issue.
Update - I found threads on other websites where people were discussing this issue from just this week - some said after the most recent software push 17.4. People were reporting the same thing on other brand TV remotes...Samsung, Panasonic you name it. Some of them sent a bug report to Apple. So I'm sure it'll get fixed. Good thing is it's not just us with the Sony remotes - kind of relieving, because was starting to wonder about my TV.
I got a 2024 Masters Sony Bravia TV. It comes with Quantum Sound System, that unfortunately IS NOT Compatible with my 4K Apple TV Box. The Apple TV CAN ONLY HDR@ 59. Hz (60Hz). So, I had to connect my HDMI to the Arc 120Hz earc, and had to use the other HDMI from my Apple Device to the other Arc channel that only supports HDR not Quantum. I just don’t know how to get all my MANY subscription apps onto my Bravia. The Quantum Sound is Fantastic, but I am at a loss.
Same for me it stopped working about a week ago. Let’s hope Apple will fix this soon

Exactly the same problem, glad I found this thread. Completed all troubleshooting steps. I even purchased 2 new AA batteries thinking that might help.
My motto has always been, "Bluetooth ruins everything".
This is broken for me too. Just happened today. Apple 4k Gen 1 and Sony A80K. Hope they fix soon or I'll have to go back to using my Nvidia Shield 😔
I just managed to fix mine. Went to Apple TV, Remotes and devices, Learn remote, then went through the process of pairing my Sony Bravia remote with the Apple TV. Everything working fine now.
same thing has happened to me. Can’t figure out if it is an Apple thing or a Sony thing
17.4 works fine on 2 of 5 Sony TVs. The others won’t allow me to Learn Remote no matter what I do.
Same problem on LG GX and LG G2 - both with with Apple TV 4K
Apple remote and phone remotes work but the LG magic remotes no longer work since 17.4
Hello, everything has been working again for a few days and I haven't been able to respond before. Apple made a silent update to certainly correct this problem.

Came back from vacation to broken TV to ATV control over HDMI. Would LOVE a fix. Still broken at this time
