Transfer music files from new iMac to ***OLD*** iMac. DOWNgrade.
I have a retired iMac with High Sierra and heaps of room on its HDD, a machine which is doing nothing.
Just making it it clear. From New iMac down to OLD iMac.
I want to move my entire Music library to the old (High Sierra) Mac from my Retina 21.5 inch 2017 Ventura iMac, and use my old High Sierra as my dedicated music library, preserving everything, especially the Comments, which is where I have entered my catalogue numbers for each of the CDs in my extensive library
That's right. I want to downgrade.
Can I do this? At present, (Ventura) Music has a file named musiclibrarydotcom which High Sierra iTunes cannot read. I have transferred all my files and my Playlists to the High Sierra machine, but the Comments have not made the trip. These are vital. They tell me where in my physical library each CD is located.
Editing these Comments one-by-one (I have thousands of CDs) is daunting. There is an Applescript to do this Comment-editing job, but it works only on systems much later than High Sierra. I used it with success on my Ventura library. High Sierra can't read the resulting edited library file, as I mentioned above.
Any suggestions?
For an non labour-intensive solution?
