Performance issues with Safari on macOS Ventura

I am using an up to date MacOS Ventura system, with regular updates on Safari lately. However it seems safari is still not bug free and resulting in a freezing system, slow system, not able to click on the links, not starting.

What does it take for Apple to create a (or to keep their software) running as it should. I don't mind updates, but they should improve the system, no degrade it.

Try launching Safari with the Shift key held down. That clears some caches which might be contributing.

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Do you have any ad blocking extensions for Safari?

Typically how many windows do you have open at a time?

How much free space do you have on your boot drive?

How much RAM do you have?

FWIW I have no problem with Safari unless I have 30+ windows open at the same time with 16 GB or RAM.

[rob], NO, as these applications should not be needed according to apple

[rob] 1 (running excel, word, powerpoint, mail)

should be ok

[rob] all other browsers (chrome, brave) respond as it should be, so it must be safari issue.

Well that shoots that brilliant idea down. All I can think of is to boot into the Recovery volume (boot with the Command + R keys held down  - Intel Macs) or  (How to Boot an M1 Mac into Recovery Mode) and re-install the system:

It won't affect the user data but, as good practice, one should have a current and full backup (Time Machine or equivalent) before any such action.
