using I tunes these days

have been posting this ongoing saga, with my iPod classic

( model A1238 - 160gb)

in another spot, but now, find myself wondering, after trying some local tech repair shops,

if perhaps the issue is actually iTunes and software not bothering to keep up w/ old dogs like me

that want their library on a device, iPod, that I can plug in where and when ever I want ...

in general, it is synching...back in January, asked and got info on a "super-fix" tutorial, for the iPod which I followed and got the music, at that time , synched ...more new music a few days ago...tried to synch again

(BTW, my older, 120gb pod did so w/o a problem)

and next thing I knew...the screen of the pod told me " No Music" no data no Nothing ...ugggh !

so, tried the superfix again and it is now beyond my technical ability though the Mac screen shows the iPod connected , it's not showing up in the iTunes sidebar and I'm flummoxed

now, wondering if, a different mp3 player, those that were previously listed as apple/iTunes compatible if anyone can clarify if I go that route, do I stand a better chance of having a device I can use in the manner I wish ? my library is about 60 years of...All of It ...music albums / cassettes / cd's / home recordings ...

that I want to plug in; the car, the shop's system the home theatre ...all of it !!!

thanx
