iCloud for PC Error For Outlook Contacts and Calendars

Hello,

This

is a rant that I have had for well, probably close to 10 years approximately at

this point.

First,

I need to know where to send this particular rant/complaint to so it gets to Apple, not just this community forum, which is people helping people. The rant is one pertaining to the Apple iCloud control panel for Windows regarding it's integration with Outlook the program. How do I send a complaint on that topic

to get it to Apple please?

Second,

here's the 10+ year old RANT with a request for feedback from people with the same problem and suggestions about how they might have fixed the issue.

I just completed building a pretty pink desktop PC and installed Win11 Pro on it. I am a long time user of the full blown (not the web version, not the app version but the full program that you can only install by obtaining the offline installer for Office 365/Microsoft 365 from Microsoft). I have 2 laptops in addition to the pink desktop and all are running the full Outlook as described, one is also running Win11 Pro and the other is running Win10 Pro (it is a 13+ year old HP laptop that has had it's HW upgraded as far as it can go). All

machines have the most recent version of the iCloud control panel installed. I also have an iPhone 13 Pro Max and a 5 gen iPad Pro. I use the iCloud CP to successfully sync my calendar (I only have one) across my 5 devices.

This problem has existed since pretty much the "dawn of time" and it is pathetic that Apple has NOT fixed it to this very day. The problem is that when you either install the iCloud CP or sign out then back in and have to set up the Outlook contacts and calendars portion with the option of "all contacts and calendars" of the CP it 100% of the time gives the same error message "Outlook does not have a default profile set up" and then when you click on try again it eventually fails and does not link up to Outlook. To date the only way to make the linkage work is to use the option of only certain (I forgot the exact wording) contacts and calendars and then go into the option and uncheck EVERYTHING. Only then does it create the functioning linkage.

I would like to know a few things:

Second, I would also love to hear if anyone has found any way of actually getting the "all contacts and calendars" option to function. I would also love to hear if you have NOT been able to get the "all contacts and calendars" option to function and have had no choice but to resort to the method I described of only certain contacts and calendars and then unchecking everything.

All

comments are wonderfully appreciated.

Sincerely,

WndrWmn

Two things that aren't allowed here are rants and polls. You name your post the first and I could see a case being made for the second as well.

If you were to just post this part:

Second, I would also love to hear if anyone has found any way of actually getting the "all contacts and calendars" option to function.

Along with any pertinent equipment details, your post will not get deleted and you may actually get help.

In the almost 17 years I have had iPhone I have ALWAYS gotten all contacts and calendars to function. And it required no effort at all.

What you have to understand is that contacts, calendars, notes, and reminders do not sync device to device. They sync to email accounts. You can see this if you go to Settings/Mail/Accounts; if you tap on an account you will see switches to sync each of these data types to the email account. So you have to select the same settings on each device to get the devices to sync these items.
