Trade in value of iPad Air 5th Gen with slight bend

Hi,

I have a 5th Gen iPad Air which picked up a bend in the upper right corner (upper left being where buttons are). The screen has separated a bit as a result, which is extremely disappointing. I have handled the device lightly since buying it, put a stiff stand/cover on it to try to prevent this from happening.

This is a great device, otherwise, and I'm planning to buy the 6th Gen when it comes out.

Since this seems to be a design flaw, will Apple give anything in trade in value? Going through the Apple Store app, I get an estimated trade in value of $340 (Canadian) for an otherwise fully functional 64GB unit. I would accept a decent (50%+) portion of that for mine, but $0 seems ridiculous.

Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Apple will only accept undamaged/fully-functional devices for trade-in. As trade-in items are refurbished, the cost of repairing a damaged item will likely exceed its value.

You can verify eligibility and an estimated trade-in value here:

As an alternative, consider selling your iPad privately - either as a damaged item, or for parts. It may have value to someone.

As described, your iPad is very likely eligible for repair. Be aware, however, that the cost of repair will exceed any potential value for future trade-in.

For practical purposes, in lieu of repairing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchange the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for repair.

For out-of-warranty repair, Apple offers a fixed-price price repair. You can verify eligibility and cost for your region/country here:
