Sandisk iXtreme corrupts or loses dat on iPad 9

I have tried to use the drive as a link between my iPad and Mac Mini M1. Initially it worked OK. Now, I lose files periodically. The Files app on the iPad can't see files in the SanDisk folder. Can I just wipe the little drive, and use it without Sandisk software?

Yes, backup, and use Disk Utility to erase the whole device (not just volumes under it by View > Show All Devices) as APFS.


3rd party disk utilities are usually not needed and might at some point be unsupported.


BTW SanDisk has had some reliability issues in recent past:
