Books on iPad gives false message regarding iCloud storage

iPad 7, iOS 16.1

my Books app shows in the upper left of the books group

9 books

iCloud Storage is Full...

I'm only using a total of 657.2 MB on the iPad, including everything, of 5 GB.

Books is using 14.4 MB.

I'd like to make this false notice go away

I have not found any way in preferences to adjust the space allotted to Books
