Beta app expired, no testflight update to redeem: can I save my data by downloading the release version of the app?

I have been a beta user of an app via TestFlight for a years--I complained about some bugs and helped to get them fixed and it was getting so smooth and easy I forgot to keep track of expiration dates. Yesterday morning everything was fine, yesterday evening I clicked on my app, and got a message, [beta app] expired. Went to TestFlight, got 'ready to test' default message. Checked my e-mail and there was not the usual 'new version available to test' message.

I've sent a message to app support and am waiting to hear back from them. They're usually pretty prompt, but in the meantime, I thought some of you here might know the likely answer to this question: if I just download the current release version, will it recognize my beta app data file and open it so that I get seamless access to my data with all of my preferences and customizations intact?

I did not get a notification that I was being dropped as a tester, so I did not have a chance to export my data and honestly am not sure how much of my preferences/customizations are available in that built-in export option. None of the data or preferences are life-changing, so losing it all is not a crisis. But it will take several hours to recreate the basics and months of occasional annoyance in regular use to get all of the little refinements back to how I like them.

Nobody here knows.

You’ll need to discuss all this with the organization (formerly?) running the app beta of course, but it would appear there either is no active beta, or you’re no longer part of any beta that they’re now running.

In most cases I’m aware of, the released version of an app will recognize and adapt to the beta data, or the beta will indicate that there will be issues updating to the released version, or will indicate the migration is one-way (usually that’s to whatever is newer, but whether newer is to newer a beta or to a newer released version?) though check the beta-related documentation for those details. Betas can sometimes clobber that data, too.

thank you. That's very helpful and a little hopeful. I understand that no one here will know for sure, but knowing that in other cases, beta apps can grab the data and use it properly I can at least be hopeful. Because as as it is, I am starting to feel the pull of getting back into the app and I'm not sure if I'll make it without it until the support gets back to me.
