The drivers on the HP support pages for this printer are for older Mac operating systems.
The (Post Date: Dec 11, 2020) HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for macOS package from Apple (HP 5.1.1 Printer Software Update - Apple Support) is said to be "Not compatible with macOS v12 and newer" (an HP LaserJet M1522 MFP Series driver version 19.13 is mentioned in the article Printer and scanner drivers for Mac - Apple Support). Everything else would be entirely experimental. Do not expect it to work.

Generally speaking, be careful if downloading drivers from the Internet. There are several dubious third-party support sites, often with misleading names. Download from a printer manufacturer's official web site, or from another trustworthy source such as Apple.
As always, make sure that you have backup copies of all important files before testing anything. Software conflicts cannot be ruled out.
