While using the remote app for Apple TV I have to “choose tv” multiple times while using the app like every minute or so. Very frustrating. We only have one Apple TV and I cannot find a way to set default tv in app.

Try turning off iPhone, then restart Apple TV, then start up iPhone again. Does that alleviate the issue?

The “Choose Tv” was coming up fairly often this evening. I powered down iPhone 12pro max and Apple TV then unplugged Apple TV for several seconds then powered it backup. Rebooted my iPhone and so far it seems to be working. Thank You. We will how it goes. Appreciate the help.
This happens to me too, super frustrating! I have two Apple TVs and it used to be that the remote on my iPhone would default to the last used TV setting, which meant I had to select the other ATV when swapping rooms, but that was preferable to the situation now where I have to select which TV every time I access the remote to do anything.
