Black screen but cursor works
When I stared up my Mac the screen is black but my cursor still works. What can I do to correct problem.

There’s a thread for this already. Restart in safe mode or type the first letter of user name - enter and then full password enter. And it should start.
I just had this issue yesterday and the above didn't work. Even in recovery mode..I couldn’t find a disk.
so, I pulled everything connected to my Mac Studio out and the log-in screen came up.
Found the issue to be my external Time Machine. Somehow the disk had failed and prevents the Mac starting up.
Just though I’d put this out there.
