Cannot connect Yahoo E-Mail account to Apple Mail - iMac 2013 os Catalina 10.15.7

Following the instructions I can enter my Yahoo account name and password, I then get the message - Authentifizierung Fehlgeschlagen (Authentification failed) - Anmeldung bei Yahoo fehlgeschlagen, bitte versuche es später eneut (Login to Yahoo failed, please try again later). I have now been trying for several days with 2 different Yahoo accounts.

I am sure that here you will tell me it is a problem with Yahoo, and at Yahoo, I will be told it is a problem with Apple.

I am sick and fed up with having to solve problems between my computer, various software, anti-virus programmes, my internet provider, and god knows who else. Not being able to talk to a real person having to wade through loads of technical gobbledygook that I don't really understand, communicating with AI that does not understand my problem or waiting to hope that somebody in a community notices, understands, has a solution for and replies.

I want proper support in real-time from a human being!

Just other users here, but anti-virus programs are likely part of your problems.

Mac's Mail App is not as modern as iOS's Mail app, Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password.

Yahoo has gone to this too...

Yahoo App password…

Generate and manage third-party app passwords

Some older, third-party email apps (that do not use our Yahoo branded sign in page) require you to enter a single password for login credentials. To access your Yahoo Mail account on these apps, you'll need to generate and use an app password. An app password is a long, randomly generated code that gives a non-Yahoo app permission to access your Yahoo account. You’ll only need to provide this code once to sign in to your third-party email app.

Most likely biggest factor is using Other in Mail setup, then using a Browser that doesn’t have Yahoo PW stored init to get the App PW.
