2019 imac running Sonoma 14.4 that has started to display the sound level icon intermittently and it also awakes from being in sleep mode.

I have a 2019 imac running Sonoma 14.4 that has started to display the sound level icon on my screen intermittently and it also awakes from being in sleep mode and stays there until I enter my password that unlocks my computer.

I've reset the NVRAM and tried to find things in settings that might be causing this. Unfortunately nothing has worked so far. Any suggestions/assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sounds like maybe a sticky volume key.

To test:

Try a different keyboard with the iMac and/or have your keyboard tested at your local AASP.
