How to remove unresponsive Microphone symbol on iMac?

A red square half an inch big bearing a microphone symbol and a cross in white
has appeared at the top right corner of my iMac.

It is totally unresponsive to being clicked or dragged. If I shut down and
reboot, it is about 30 seconds after I log in before it appears.

There is a similar microphone symbol, equally unresponsive, in the right hand
group in the menu bar.

I have two accounts on the iMac. If I log out of the primary account and into
the secondary one it does not appear. So it is associated with the primary
account, rather than the iMac as a whole.

What causes it, and how can I get rid of it?

Any thoughts, anyone?

It doesn't appear to be associated with 'Voice Control'

Thanks

I now know beyond doubt that the problem is with the Logi Options+ software that comes with the Logi Wave keyboard. Remove the software and you remove the problem.
It is to do with the microphone being muted. Why the microphone should be muted and how to unmute it remain to be solved.

You might want to follow up with the developers of the software that's causing the problem. They may also have a forum that you can check for similar issues.

I can't be doing with software that is supposed to, but doesn't, correctly detect whether the microphone is muted (which it wasn't). What business is of keyboard software anyway?

I have chosen the zero option. The software is cleared out and the keyboard has been returned.

End of problem.

In passing, my eldest son found a link to a Reddit Logitech forum in which this problem is extensively discussed.

https://www.reddit.com/r/logitech/comments/zcr76d/making_muted_microphone_icon_go_away_with_logi/

I would hope that the Logitech designers would keep an eye on this sort of thing!

Happens Only in your Main Account and Not in Secondary Account
