PS: this may give more ideas about excess heat. macOS Activity Monitor allows

user to find and choose specific items to selectively check and to test in Macs.

"If your Mac laptop gets warm even when it isn’t doing tasks that require intensive calculations, or if it has fans that run for a long time, use Activity Monitor to check CPU activity. Look for malfunctioning processes that can put a significant load on the CPU and check for unexpected fan use. If issues persist, close and open the lid on your laptop, or restart your computer. If you have an Intel-based Mac, reset the SMC." -- {thanks moderator!}

Maybe to discover which MacBook Air model year, is one like yours. Then

note that, in your thread. There are some MB/Air versions that Do Not have

a cooling fan; they're thin, have no fans, & use metal case to radiate heat..

(Not sure about most recent Apple Silicon models; may or not be equipped

with a cooling fan. Graphics processors, larger displays, may require fans.

Note 'Tech Specs', & 'User Guides' are presented for most models below:

If yours runs hot, you may need to check and see with 'Activity Monitor'

utility; and inspect the reports, and tell us what is running all that much.

..Your Original Title, edited by ASC Moderator, & isn't up ^ there to read..

However I still can see that in slightly older ASC forum page on screen:

"Hi! My MacBook Air's fan is constantly on. I tried to shut it down, close

the lid and shut it down and press shift,contro,option and power keys.

It dis not help. Is there something else to do? Laptop is on the table."

..and does suggest more goings-on than present Apple Support article..
