Your bank requires iOS 17 in order to use their app. Your iPhone X is not capable of being updated to iOS 17. So you either accept you cannot use your banks app, or you buy a newer, more modern iPhone.

I spoke to icici bank person and he told me that ICICI Bank and Apple has some deal. This the reason that icici stopped supporting iOS 16 and below. Only option is to change the bank not a phone.

That's simply NOT true. Apple and ICICI bank have no deal. Your bank simply decided they are unwilling to support their app on devices, which are not capable of running the latest iOS version.

It is 100% up to the app developer to determine what version of iOS they are willing to support. My bank is Bank of America. They are one of the largest banks in the world and they still support their app on iOS 15 and higher.

Apps that require higher iOS versions - Ask the App Developer to release older version of the App

You cannot pick and choose an iOS version. What you get is Settings > General > Software update > [All options are available here]

If iOS updates are no longer being released for your device, it typically means that the device has reached its end of life in terms of software support from Apple. In such cases, there are a few options you can consider:

  1. Although major iOS updates may no longer be available, Apple may continue to release security updates for older devices. Ensure that your device is running the latest available version of iOS for its generation to maintain the highest level of security.
  2. As iOS versions advance, some newer apps may not be compatible with older iOS versions. You may need to rely on older versions of apps or find alternative apps that are compatible with your device's iOS version.
    1. Ask the App developer to release the app for lower iOS versions also. Netflix & Amazon have done it.
    2. GarageBand an Apple App
    3. Apple Store
  3. Pages, Numbers and Keynote Apps
  4. If your device is no longer receiving software updates, it may be a good time to consider upgrading to a newer device that is supported by the latest iOS updates. Upgrading to a newer device will ensure that you continue to receive the latest features, security updates, and app compatibility. Selection of a mobile model/brand is driv… - Apple Community
  5. Check for App Alternatives: Look for alternative apps that provide similar functionality but are compatible with your current iOS version. There might be other apps available that cater to your needs and are compatible with iOS 15 or lower.
  6. Consider Device Upgrade: If your iPhone 7 is not able to run the required iOS version, you might consider upgrading your device to a newer model that supports the latest iOS updates. This would ensure compatibility with the Artists app and other apps that may require newer iOS versions.

Remember to regularly back up your data to avoid losing any important information during the transition to a new device.

It's worth noting that the availability of updates and options may vary depending on the specific device model and its hardware capabilities.

The iPhone X does not support iOS 17 – and will not offer you an update to it.

We have the same issue with our IPhone X. There is absolutely no support from both Apple as also ICICIBANK

You can update an iPhone X as far as iOS 16. That's only one major version behind iOS 17, and it sounds like just about every bank and credit union in the world with an app, has one that runs on iOS 16 today.

Except for YOUR bank, ICICI.

This is on ICICI.

There is no iOS 17 update for the iPhone 8 Plus. I don't think that's going to change.

If the bank won't relent, and come out with a new version of their app that, say, only requires "iOS 15.0 or later", then you may be between a rock and a hard place. A place prepared for you by that bank.

@apple please support with this update with ICICI bank iMobile app as they are not supporting your company’s phone customer’s.

Apple doesn't control the ICICI bank's mobile app. They can't force the bank to release it for iOS 15 and iOS 16, even if apps from many other banks in the world do support those operating systems.

And if this will be the situation then anyone planning on buying IPhones in future will switch to Android. Please help

Good luck with your switch to Android.

If this bank requires iPhone customers to be running the latest version of iOS – and won't support slightly older versions, as most other banks do – what makes you think that the bank won't do the same for Android phones?

I ve the same problem with ICICI mobile pay app. My complaint with ICICI has reached a deadlock and no conclusion has come out. As ICICI has upgraded the app which will only work with iOS 17. Looks like a underground deal with apple and ICICI app developers forcing customers to ditch the device they are using upto iphoneX and have unnecessary expenditure to buy recent device on which iOS 17 is supported. ICICI and apple has some deal which need to be subjected to investigation. icici management is bluntly denying on the phone that none of our customers are having any issues with app or account accessibility.

I did try to download the old app but doesn’t work any more.
