How do I change the fonts on my iPad reading a pdf(not an ebook) in the Books app ?

I don't think that is possible. A main reason for using epub instead of pdf is so users can adjust fonts to meet their needs.
Is it a size problem or something else?

It is a size problem so it is more difficult to read the text
