Saving photos

When I right click on a site, to save a photo, the option menu opens, but when I click "save image as" nothing happens.

Photos will not open and screenshots won't save Until last week, my photos would open without an app. Now, they will not open unless they are selected from Photoshop or Lightroom. When I double-click on a photo, it looks like it's opening but then doesn't. Several months ago, my screenshots stopped storing (I don't know where they're stored, if at all) on the desktop. Yes, the option is selected to save on the desktop. How do I solve these problems? Are they related? I'm on Sonoma 14.4.1

Why do the Photos App open every time I save a photo from the web on my Mac? Every time I save a photo from the web to the Photos App, it opens. It's really annoying because I mostly use Safari on full screen and it takes me out of what I'm looking into to open the app. How do I stop this from happening?

Sometimes the Mac gets confused. Have you restarted the Mac?

If that doesn't do it, try a re-start in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:
