My wife's iPhone 11 has 6 photos on it totaling 10 MB. Settings-general-iphone storage shows 34GB. I have deleted everything down to an essential 6 items but settings maintains that photos are 34GB.
What is going on???

So I had to answer this myself...Deleting a media file from the Photos app does not delete it from the phone. To do that you have to go to Albums (in the app) and scroll down to "recently deleted" to really delete them.
