inconsistent indication of photos date

My wife's iPhone 11 has 6 photos on it totaling 10MB. Settings-general-iphone storage shows 34GB .

what is going on?

new photos automatic delete hi ya my iphone13 from this year September when i take photos always can stay around 7-10 days then automatically delete, so i can not save the new photos every time have to go to the recently delete album to recover them, those old photos from September backward never delete only new photos did. what can i do to stop this . thanks a lot.

If you're missing photos or videos in iCloud Photos Hello! I restored my new iPhone from iCloud, but I noticed that some photos taken during the day 04/10/2025 12:00-14:30 are missing. They are not visible in iCloud.com or in the Photos app on my new device. Could you please check if temporary cached versions of these photos are still available on your servers? Thank you!

So I had to answer this myself...Deleting a media file from the Photos app does not delete it from the phone. To do that you have to go to Albums (in the app) and scroll down to "recently deleted" to really delete them.
