Enosis is still showing up as my browser even though I’ve selected Duck Duck Go as my browser on iPhone 12 Pro Max. I’ve deleted the app several months ago and I’ve checked my browser selection, and it’s still duck duck go.

As Lawrence said, selecting a default browser and selecting a search engine are two entirely different and independent things.
To select the search engine you want to use, go to Settings>Safari>Search Engine. Your choices are Google, Yahoo, Bing, Yandex, DuckDuckGo and Ecosia. You do not need to download any additional browsers.
To choose a different default browser, first, you need to download the browser app from the App Store. Then, you need to go to Settings and scroll down until you find the new browser app. Tap on it. Tap on Default Browser App and make your selection. The options you see will depend on what apps you have installed. If Safari is your default browser, you won't see any options to change the default browser under Settings>Safari.

Open Settings App and tap Safari, not Siri & Search and see what is selected as your Search Engine.
Go to Settings/Safari/Clear History & Website Data. Any tabs that you have open with Ecosia will continue using it until they are closed.
Do you have a school or business email account on your phone? If you do that gives the administrator a lot of control over your settings, and can override settings you choose.
I see you're on iOS 15 and I'm on iOS 17.4.1, so I honestly can't remember how it may have appeared in iOS 15. In iOS 17, you choose your browser in Settings > Safari
I'm still not sure why you are doing anything with Siri & Search? Choosing Duck Duck Go on Settings > Safari is where you choose the search engine.
Actually I did use settings. And I’m also on iOS 17.4.1. I went to settings, then went to safari, then to Siri and Search. And clicked on duck duck go as my search engine. And now I’m seeing ecosia as my search engine when I click Safari to search for some information.
Browser and search engine are confusing because they’re both involved in searching. I have safari as my browser. My search engine should be Duck Duck go, but Ecosia comes up when I click on Safari, even though I’ve selected Duck Duck go as my search engine.
Did you choose DuckDuckGo as your default search engine, or as your browser? They are two completely different things. What were the exact steps you followed to change?
I went to settings, then Siri and search, and then clicked on search engine. Then I clicked Duck Duck go. And it’s still checked. This just happened today. Before that it was always duck duck go.
But when I click in Siri and search, ecosia comes up.
Your right. I do press on safari after I do to settings. But still, when I click on Safari, even though I’ve clicked on Duck Duck go, I still get Ecosia as a search engine.
