Can’t get emoji keyboard to pull up after the 17 iOS update

I have searched here and on google best I can, and none of the suggestions help. I have turned my ipad and keyboard off and back on, removed the emoji keyboard from settings and added it back on, but my globe button still will not pull up the emoji keyboard. When I push the globe now, all it does is bring up a blue box with an A in it. I recently updated to the new 17.4 IOS on my ipad, and this is when it changed. I hope someone can please help!
