How to Access the Music I Paid for on iTunes?

I have a relatively new MacBook Air (purchased last August 2023), running Sonoma 14.3.1 (23D60). I am just now trying to download the iTunes music I have purchased over the years. It has taken me quite a while to get to the point where it says that my system is "not compatible with Apple Music." Does anyone know how I can get my iTunes music on my computer? Thank you!

See Redownload music – Apple Support (UK) and Hide and unhide music, films and more – Apple Support (UK).

The Apple Music application is one of the standard applications that comes with Sonoma – and the Apple Music streaming service is one of the things that you can access with that application (should you choose to do so).

So a message that your system is "not compatible with Apple Music" would be very odd, to say the least.
