Why uploading photos to iCloud is slow?

I decided to PAY for iCloud storage and began uploading my photos 75 HOURS AGO, all day each day. Only 7 GB have uploaded in all this time, most of which has been with normal internet speed 15-18 units per second. That’s 7000 photos. I expected my 32 GB of photos to be completed within 24 hours. This may take many more days. This is outrageous. I want Apple to fix this NOW. I have left my phone at home to remain connected and charging. This must be an Apple problem. This is absolutely NOT OK!!!

You are only showing us the screenshot of your iPhone Storage. That does not tell you, how many of your photos have arrived in iCloud. Syncing your photos with iCloud Photos will not remove all photos from your iPhone; you will have them in both places, locally on your iPhone and also in iCloud.

To see how many photos have been uploaded to iCloud look also at the storage for iCloud:

Settings > Your Name/AppleID > iCloud > Photos: How much storage is shown for your photos in iCloud?

And have you enable the option "Optimize iPhone storage" there, so Photos will free some local storage, once the opal has been completed?

The first syncing with iCloud Photos is not just an upload of your photos and videos. iCloud Photos is creating a new Photos Library in iCloud and has to scan the files for duplicates and other data. So it will take much longer than a simple upload to finish.

I installed iOS 17.4.1. I had to delete several apps to have enough storage on my phone to successfully install the app. That was 6 hours ago. I have looked at the stats hourly and there has been no significant change:

iPhone storage is has been about 53.6 of 64 GB and Photos have been at about 28.25 GB. Thanks for your help last night. I was able to get 17.4.1 but it is now 4 DAYS of supposed uploading of my photos to iCloud and there’s been hardly any progress. Please figure out what is going on. This is driving me crazy because I can hardly use my phone so as to free it up for this transfer. I expected better than this from iCloud and iPhone.
