We don't know which iPhone model you have, and which iOS version is installed on it,

ie: Wondering if the Watch and iPhone are compatible, or whether upgrading / updating one or both may help with compatibility.

Watch SE (1st generation) with watchOS 8: requires iPhone 6s or later with iOS 14 or later

Newest WatchOS 8 version is watchOS 8.8.1

To use Watch SE with watch OS 9: requires iPhone 8 or later with iOS 16 or later

Newest WatchOS 9 version: watchOS 9.6.3

Watch SE with watchOS 10 requires iPhone XS, iPhone XR or later with iOS 17

Newest WatchOS version is watchOS 10.4
