Why Bootable Installer for Ventura Isn't working on Mac Studio M2 Max

I'm in the process of trying to downgrade my new Studio M2 Max because, as expected, the rest of the universe doesn't move at Apple's pace. I followed the instructions to make a bootable installer for Ventura in terminal and it was successful however, when I go to inspect the final product both in Target Disk mode and in System Restore, the drive is recognized as external media but isn't bootable. Even if I erase the image with Sonoma on it, I'm unable to boot from this freshly created image because Mac doesn't see it as an option. I'm forced to reload Sonoma again as the only option.

What am I missing?

For the record, I found the answer to my problem. As suspected Apple was blacklisting my installer via their over-the-top security with the newer OS/windows style software...

For the uninitiated, like me, here was the solution....

How to allow external startup drives on Apple Silicon Macs

   Shut down the Mac

Press the power button and keep it pressed

Let go when you see one or more drives and an Options section

   Select Options and click Continue

When the Mac boots into Recovery Mode, select a Mac user you know the password for

   Log in as that user

Ignore all of the options in the pop-up list and instead choose Startup Security Utility from the Utilities menu

Click to select the Mac's internal drive and then click Unlock

Follow the prompts concerning passwords, and select Security Policy

In the Security Policy window that appears, click to select Reduced Security

   Then click OK

Under the Recovery menu, choose Shut Down

I would have been great if the 'support techs' at Apple knew this or communicated it to during my hour long rant with them.

Clueless as usual but perhaps they did but just withheld it....

Who knows. Problem solved.
