Hotspot issue with new IOS upgrade

I have been using the hotspot on my Iphone for my macbook pro that is currently running mac OS Monterey 12.7.4.

Ever since i upgraded my Iphone to IOS 17, the hotspot has stopped working.

Multiple reboots of iphone and mac and reinstall of Monterey failed to deal with the issue.

When i moved my phone sim to a phone on IOS 15.0.1, the hotspot worked.

This leads me to believe there is software that blocks Monterey on IOS 17

Can anyone think of another explnanation please?

are you suggesting I restore my phone from an old back up prior to IOS 17?

seems a sensible option although probably means I can never update my phone again….?

FYI - I can use all my other devices on my hotspot just not the one with Monterey so I don’t think the phone is malfunctioning?

I can use my Monterey laptop on a friends hotspot which is IOS 16 also - just checked
