If your iPhone 6 is running iOS 12.5.7, you are current.
if you have apps requiring a newer iOS version, you will need a newer (used, refurb) or new iPhone.
iPhone XR, iPhone XR, iPhone SE 2nd gen, and later, are supported with iOS 17.4.1; with the current iOS 17.
