2024 Apple Music not playing iPod classic
Why does both Finder and Apple Music show me everything on my iPod classic but will not play any songs on the device?

Playing content from a connected device is an iTunes feature that hasn't been carried over. Everything that is on your device should be in your local library and backed up, so there should really never be any need to play from the device via your computer.
