How do I stop my iPhone from sending double Messages?

The problem of double messages with the same contact isn't limited to just different phone number formats within a country. It can also happen when you save a contact's number with and without the international prefix.

For instance, let's say your friend in France has the phone number 06 12 34 56 78. You might save their number in two ways:

• Without Prefix: Simply as 0612345678 (common for frequent communication)
• With Prefix: Including the French country code, +33 6 12 34 56 78 (more accurate for international calls)

Having both versions saved in your contacts can trick your iPhone into thinking they're separate numbers, leading to duplicate messages.

Fixing the International Double-Up:

The solution remains the same as before. Open the contact information, check for duplicate entries (including those with and without the prefix), and either delete the extras or merge them into a single, accurate entry. This ensures your iPhone recognizes it as one contact and sends just one message.

Remember: When saving international contacts, it's best practice to include the full international prefix (e.g., +33 for France). This clarifies the number's origin and avoids the potential for duplicate messages.

Different Formats: Phone numbers can be stored in various formats, including with or without hyphens, parentheses, or country codes. If you saved the same contact's number twice, once with each format (e.g., 555-123-4567 and (555) 123-4567), your iPhone might treat them as separate numbers and send two messages.

To fix this, you'll need to check your contact and ensure the number isn't saved multiple times:

1. Open the Contacts app on your iPhone.
