How to forward and receive MMS/SMS messages to Macbook Air 13-inch, Early 2015

Hi there,

I am having trouble sending and receiving MMS/SMS messages to my Macbook Air. It used to work and then suddenly it stopped. I currently have Monterey 12.7.3 on my Macbook Air 13-inch, Early 2015


Things I have tried:

  • turning on and off "text forwarding to Macbook Air" on my iPhone
  • turning on and off "iMessage"
  • turning on and off "Send an SMS"
  • turning on and off "MMS Messaging"
  • Signing in and out of my Apple ID on my Macbook and iPhone


Still, I am getting these indications:


Is it that my Macbook is just too old? I am so frustrated, please help.

You've done great troubleshooting already! Next, I'd suggest reinstalling macOS on your Mac from macOS Recovery. While reinstalling macOS doesn't remove your personal data, it is recommended to have a backup first: How to back up your Mac - Official Apple Support.
