sound output not adjustable

I use my Philips monitor sound card to output audio to speakers (because the monitor is also connected to a PC so I can use both my Mac Studio and Windows PC). Out of the blue, the sound output on the Mac got stuck on the max position for the Philips, and I can't lower the volume. Nor can I mute it, that option is grayed.

If I switch to the Mac Studio speakers, the problem disappears.

When switching to Windows with the Philips setup, the problem isn't there either, and the sound is adjustable.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions. (macOS 14.4.1)
