Call recieving issues on watch and phone

I recently purchased an 40mm apple watch.

Now have it set up with my iphone 12 mini.

The issue I have is that the watch receives my calls and not my phone.

I would like it so that the watch alerts me to a phone call but not be able to take the call on the watch.

I still want to be able to take the call on my phone only.

If I disable the watch I will not know if I have missed a call.

I am am obviously wearing the watch and my phone would be sitting on my desk not in my pockets.
