Video Editing in the Picture in Picture

I am trying to edit the opacity of a video while editing. I see the option to change the opacity when the video is a "cutaway" but when I change the video to picture in picture I no longer see the opacity option. I have searched online and found nothing... Any thoughts??

In iMovie, one can only do an opacity with the Cutaway feature.

However, you can place the two clips into a Keynote app project and make the opacity overlay there. Then export the opacity overlayed clip to your desktop as a movie and drag it into your project.

The Keynote app should already be on your Mac in the applications folder. If it is not, I believe that you can download it for free from the online app store.

Also, there may be other video editor apps out there that can make a picture in picture opacity.
