When using the IPA on my MacBook Air, how can I get the special characters on Pages?

I have been using windows earlier and has recently shifted to MacBook. Being a student of linguistics, I always need to use the International phonetic alphabets (IPA). But even after downloading and switching to the required font, I am unable to add the required symbols. The symbols and emoji option also doesn't show the phonetic alphabets.

If anybody knows how to get the special characters on the PAGES , kindly help.

Yes, it does, you just need to adjust the settings. Make sure the Character Viewer is fuily expanded by clicking the square in the top right corner. Then click the circle with 3 dots in the top left corner and choose Customize List and then check the box for phonetic alphabet.

thank you , I found it, can you let me know if I can create shortcuts for these characters as it is hard to open and drag this every time I need one

You could make text replacements for the ones you need:

Replace text and punctuation in documents on Mac - Apple Support

Or you could create a custom version of your normal keyboard that has these added on keys you don't normally use

Or download and install the ipa keyboard using the link provided earllier

this is the expanded character viewer that I am seeing, but I still can't see an option for phonetic alphabet

although there are some similar characters in latin too but it is not IPA, and is missing symbols for aspiration, retroflex and many more

and this is the font I have been using
