I have a 2024 can am spyder and it comes with apple car play, but it does not work, BRP says its a apple thing, what gives?
I've been told "within the next 2 weeks" since early February. Now I'm hearing that they're telling people "by the end of May". Not sure which year though. Absolute BS. I have zero faith that it will be released by the end of May 2024 either given that they've lied about this the entire time.
Yes, you are correct, just general "come on BRP, sort it out!" kind of emails with exactly the responses you mentioned each and every time.
Here's my final thoughts about Apple Carplay on my 2024 Spyder RT Sea2Sky. I am annoyed that it wasn't included with my Spyder, but it is not the reason I bought my Spyder, and had I known ahead of time that it wasn't working I would still have bought my Spyder.
I love riding my Spyder, and in fact after posting this and eating some lunch, I'm going for a ride.
It's sunny and about 80 F outside so it'll be perfect.
Tomorrow, Saturday, it's supposed to be overcast, but no rain, so another riding day!
Sunday is forecast for thunderstorms so my Spyder will be hiding in the garage all day.
As for navigation, I purchased a Garmin Zumo XT GPS that is waterproof, and designed for motorcycles. I plug it into the USB cable in the glovebox in front of the handlebars. I have it mounted to the handlebars with an Arkon MC25MMB mount, a security lock made by Motopumps that I bought from Lamonster Garage, and the mounting parts included with the Garmin. It's paired via bluetooth with my iPhone (which is plugged into the USB port in the top case) and with the Sena 3S Plus headset mounted in my helmet, so I can hear the GPS directions even at freeway speeds.
Here's what it looks like when I'm sitting on my Spyder.
Once Apple Carplay is released by BRP then I'll test BRP's implementation of Carplay with my iPhone and helmet headset and decide whether I will keep using my Garmin setup, or if it will end up on eBay.
In the meantime, let's ride!
What happens when you try to use it exactly?
How are you trying to use it?
Are you following the Can Am's user guide to activate Car Play?
To use the Apple CarPlay, you must
1. Connect a compatible smartphone to the display via USB cable.
2. Pair a helmet audio system to the display via Bluetooth.
NOTE:
If one of the two devices is not properly connected, Apple CarPlay can not be
used.

Hello Zoomer-1,
Thank you for checking out my post and asking a question.
I do not have any answers that are the same from what I have heard.
The best thing to do is check out the forum.
I use spyderlovers.com
It is advertised that the 2024 will come with APC.
I have seen videos on the internet where a working 2024 dash was running APC and the BRP rep was showing how it worked.
That is very true, it should have been told to the dealer and the customer that there is a issue with APC and it is not available as these units are shipping out, but will keep every one concerned updated as to what the problem is and when it be ready to update over the wifi on the spyder.
Well that never happened.
We are at odds as to when it will be ready.
There best guess now with out stating a date is the middle of april, but BRP has been saying "its just one or two weeks away" but they have been saying that for the last 8 weeks.
BRP/Can-Am have not enabled it yet. It is supposed to happen this month. You can run the Wi-Fi update to your head unit every few days and see if it updates. Pro-tip, if your home Wi-Fi doesn’t reach your bike, use your phone hotspot. The updates are small.
I’m thinking from some of the comments around the technicians at our shop it might take a “hard” update hooked up to Buds at the BRP dealership. The home wifi system might not be able to install the ACP program on our machines. I will be doing that Monday on mine to check that out.
Hi JohnDeeredoo,
Thanks for the info, didn't had the chance to poke at the Spyder too much since I got it few days ago (work and bad weather keeps getting in the way lol) I intend to conduct various testing this weekend, I will get back to this forum with my findings (good or bad).
Hello Paratrooper_987
Thank you for your input.
I agree, do your poking, and try things out and note what works correctly and what doesn't.
It looks like after reading different posts on spyderlovers, we all don't have the same problems as other spyder owners..
With mine,
I can't turn off the radio.
I can't listen to music from my iphone. (odd, when i got the spyder, that worked).
When after a phone call ends, and I want to listen to the radio, the bar graph is not there to see the volume.
I will add more when I find it.
John
That would be a good question, I think who ever they have now is not doing a very good job.
I will be interesting to see what firmware number they show when they gets the bugs out.
If it shows 2.1.2 then we know they were just dragging the feet, and there will be more failures coming soon.
Yes we are all ready beta testers, but we report our issues to no one except for the people on the forums to read.
And with my experience, BRP doesn't read or look at them.
I found out if you turn on the key, and instantly push the throttle forward and push the start button, it will start before the screen loads and you see a blank screen and when the radio shows there are no preset stations and a power button for the radio, then a couple seconds latter the presets show and the radio button disappears.
I think we should let BRP know that were MAD and are not going to take this lightly.
From what I have read on other forums, BRP doesn't have a clue that this is a great issue and there are many customers of theirs that are ****** off.
They could care less about there customers, since we have all ready paid them for a spyder.
Unfortunately I think you correct, but it could let other prospective customers know that the spyder that you just paid for doesn't have a working gauge cluster, ( I have other problems with my gauge cluster than the non working ACP).
Thank you for the post.
I believe we were all miss lead, even the people that did some research, like me.
Thank you for the picture of the update to v2.1.1.
You said that you had it on your spyder for a little bit.
Did you find any problems as to the bugs they reported as to why they pulled it?
Were you able to test any things out?
There was another update that flashed the gauge back to v2,x.x were you forced to update or did you do it voluntarily thinking it was a better update?
Thank you for the picture of you screen with the downgrade back to 2.1.0
I must have a earlier version that what you showing. The only number that shows close to what you show is 1.9.0.
I just read a distressing post on spyderlovers, it was from there admin, or one of there people that can change writings in you post.
Since he is not a 2024 spyder owner and lives in Australia, his thinking is a little different than what a 2024 spyder owner is thinking about BRP.
Long story short, he says BRP doesn't have to do anything about fixing the issue with the spyder, there selling and were buying.
Well ACP was shown to be part of the new spyder, and all I want is to use something I purchased.
I have been emailing back and forth with BRP about this as I upgraded specifically for Car Play due to touring Europe a lot (Next one in 4 weeks) and I wanted the facility to see Sat Nav on a larger screen and not on my phone strapped to the handlebars as I did with my Ryker.
Todays response absolutely astounded me... and I quote:
'We kindly request that you refrain from emailing us further regarding this subject.'
Safe to say they got an extremely abrupt response from me.
I am now considering further action against BRP
@Fing86 - you said you have been emailing back and forth with BRP, and today you received a blunt response to stop emailing them about the problem.
Since you didn't disclose the details of the emails that were flying back and forth, can we assume that a lot of the BRP responses were of the general "we're working on it", "no further updates at this time", "will release a fix as soon as possible", etc?
If my assumptions are correct, then the only thing I can fault BRP with is being a bit brusque in their response.
They know it's a problem, and they know they need to fix it.
I'm as upset as everyone else, especially since Apple Carplay works great in my 2023 Honda Ridgeline, and I wish I had the same capabilities on my 2024 Spyder.
