Battery charge indicator
Even when my 7-month old MacBook Air is plugged in, the battery indicator in the menu bar reads 79%. Why?
What should I do about it?

It might be normal. Newer Mac batteries are designed to stop charging at about 80%, and will charge to 100% only once in a while. This is intended to maximize their useful life.
You can force it to charge to full capacity any time you wish though: About Optimized Battery Charging - Apple Support

Sounds somewhat counterintuitive, but I can accept your explanation. I’m 75 years old, and my battery only charges up to 100% occasionally, and I’m doing okay. 👵🏻
Thanks for the quick response.

It's a recent innovation; one they borrowed from the iPhone. I think it's a good idea, and it works well.
