Can't log into Music / Itunes on Mac

Hi There

I have Music working and sync'ed on Iphone, Ipad, Macbook Pro, but can't log into itnes on my Mac. I can also log into apple Music web palyer on the Mac.

When trying to log into my account on music it doesn't do anything. If I scroll down to the Itunes store page on the app and try to log into my account I get the response....

"There was a temporary problem completing your request. The network connection was lost."

I have tried several different ways of sorting this out with no success. Some of the things I have tried include

  • Checking network connects are exactly the same as the Macbook that works OK
  • Dfferent network connections settings
  • Using a different router
  • Connecting to the internet via Iphone mobile network
  • Checking system timezone
  • Changing Music settings
  • Clearing Cache
  • Reinstalling MacOS which reinstalls Music (older Mac running Catalina)

I'm at a loss with this..... Can anyone help please.

John

Hi All

I've sorted the issue.... it was a corruption of the icloud database on my Mac.

If anyone else has a similar issue try this solution shown in this thread iCloud and internet accounts broken - Apple Community

Following the instructions below worked for me.

To repair, copy and paste this command into Terminal, but do not hit enter before closing all other applications running on your computer. Once everything else is closed, go ahead and hit enter. You may be prompted to enter your administrator password because it is a sudo command, so go ahead and do that (but keep in mind that when you type your password into terminal, the text cursor will not move to show how much you have typed already). A few moments later, your computer should restart. Once it's open, you should be able to sign into iCloud and Internet Accounts as normal.

Here is the command:

sudo -v ; killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper ; defaults delete MobileMeAccounts ; mkdir ~/Library/Accounts/Backup ; mv ~/Library/Accounts/*.sqlite* ~/Library/Accounts/Backup/ ; killall -9 accountsd com.apple.iCloudHelper ; sudo reboot
