My iPhone 15 Pro Max is running the latest update, iOS 17.4.1. But you can see above that my Mac Mini says there's a newer version of iOS available. My Mac Mini is running MacOS Monterey 12.7.4. My iPhone is up to date when I check for software updates.
Any thoughts about why this is happening?
It's the same version number (17.4.1) but a newer build, 21E237 instead of 21E236. It's only available via a computer, not by just using the phone.

Eject > disconnect > restart both > then reconnect and see if that fixes.
I’d guess that the Mac went looking for an iOS update in parallel with the phone looking for an update, and downloaded and got that update ready, and the Mac now doesn’t realize that the phone is (as) current.
Choices… Apply it. Or ignore it. It’ll likely clear up with the next iOS update.
