How do I easily view contents of internal hard drive on MacBook Air

I have tried the suggested method of Finder to Go, but there is no “Go” on my new MaBook Air

The Go menu will be at the very top of the computer's screen. If you don't want to or can't use that method, command-click the current folder's name in the title bar, or press the Command and Up Arrow keys until you reach it.

The contents of the menu bar reflect the front-most application.

If, say, Safari is the front-most application, you will see the Safari menu bar – not the Finder menu bar. To see the Finder menu bar, you could click on an empty area of the Desktop to switch focus back to the Finder.

Another method of switching focus is with the keyboard shortcut Command-TAB. When you press it, the system displays a bar with icons for open applications, and pressing Command-TAB lets you move among them.

I sure do wish I had a “Go” command after I hit Finder, but it is most unpleasant that I do not.

I don't think there has been any recent version of Finder without a Go menu.

Do you, perhaps, have your System Settings > Desktop & Dock settings (that's the location under Ventura; might be different under other versions of macOS) set to "Automatically hide and show the menu bar"?

Unable to find Go menu in Finder - Apple Community

My View menu lists all sorts of keyboard shortcuts you can use once the Finder is the current application, e.g.,

  • Shift-Command-C – Opens a Finder window onto the "Computer" (list of all drives, plus "Network")
  • Shift-Command-H – Opens a Finder window onto the Home directory for my user account
