Receiving photo in group text

I just upgraded my iPhone 8 to iPhone 15 and now when family send picture in group, attachment does not come over. My wife has a iPhone 13 and she receives picture. We are on the same wifi.

iPhone 13 Pro, iOS 17

If your family is sending photos to an SMS group then you need an MMS plan enabled by your carrier and enabled in Settings.

You need MMS enabled by your carrier and in your Settings. Get in touch with your Carrier. Apple In does not provide MMS/SMS services.

Types of group text messages

There are three types of group messages that you might see: group iMessage, group MMS, and group SMS. The Messages app automatically chooses the type of group message to send based on settings, network connection, and carrier plan. For example:

  • If you and your recipients are using Apple devices and iMessage is turned on, then the group message is sent as an iMessage.
  • If you send a group message to people who aren't using iMessage, then the message is sent as an MMS or SMS message.
