I have just bought new airpod pros 2nd generation for my birthday. I have had no trouble listening to music or with the sound quality. However when i connect them it makes me connect them through bluetooth unlike previous models where a pop up would appear on my screen. I have an iphone xr and am wondering if its a problem with my phone or my airpods.

Reset AirPods: Try resetting your AirPods Pro. To do this, put them in their case, keep the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes amber a few times, then flashes white.

Ive tried this and it hasnt worked. I tried forgetting it from the device as well.
