Can't Reactivate My Old Macbook Air

I wiped clean my Mac. Now I want to start fresh, but it keeps asking me for password associated to my Apple ID. I do, and it tells me that it its not recognized. So, I went to iCloud and signed in with same email/pass as previouly stated and works just fine. To double check, I entered Apple.com and it also worked fine. How do I go about it? Any suggestions?
