How do I fix my MacBook Air stuck on Activation Lock?

I switch to a new email and phone number which I did update my laptop to and then I forgot my password.when I went to go reset it, it wouldn’t take the new iCloud and it wants me to use my old one which is shut off and I don’t have anymore. Then I erased the Mac and it still will only take my old iCloud. What do I do I just want to log back into my computer.

You will need to contact the person that gifted it to you and they will need to properly reset the device.

If they deleted or deactivated their Apple Account before removing it from the device, then they will have to be the one that submits the original purchase receipt to Apple to remove the account due to Activation Lock.
