My iPad Pro 11 inch does not recognize the brand new SanDisk USB-C drive when it is inserted in the charging slot. I'm not sure what "generation" it is, running IOS 17.3.1. I bought it new in 2020 and it was the latest version available. Thanks

To be recognised by iPadOS, the attached USB storage device must be formatted to FAT, FAT32, exFAT, APFS or HFS+ with a single partition. Microsoft NTFS and other proprietary device formatting are not supported.

Does the iPad itself have a USB-C port - or the older Lightning connector? If the latter, the iPad may not be able to provide adequate power for the Sandisk storage device.
This drive was purchased specifically to enable the transfer of photos from my wife's Samsung Tablet to my iPad Pro. As you can see from the attached picture, the drive is allegedly valid for iPad Pro use. So, one, I don't know how to reformat if that is necessary, two, if so will it work with my wife's Tablet?
The charging port is USB-C compatible.
