My iPad Pro 12.9 inch doesn’t recognize the USB drive when I insert it

You make no mention of your specific model of iPad Pro. Does your iPad Pro have a USB-C connection, or a Lightning port? The type of connection will largely determine how you will be connecting USB storage to your iPad.


If the iPad has a Lightning connector, you will require an Apple Lightning to USB3 Camera Adapter - as direct connection to USB accessories is otherwise unsupported:

Assuming that you are correctly connecting the USB storage to your iPad, it must be formatted as FAT32, exFAT (FAT64) or APFS with a single data partition.
