Sonoma 14.4 1 washes out 27" thunderbolt second display

Have just updated Sonoma to 14.4.1 on my iMac 27". Now my second screen - a 5 year old 27" iMac thunderbolt display - appears faded / washed out. Tried changing the display settings, new screen savers, turning off and unplugging it for 10 mins, rebooting - all to no avail. All previous Mac OS updates worked fine. Any suggestions ?
