Closing apps

iPhone 15 pro, When I use an app and I swipe up and put it away and then I open an app, it goes back to the last place I was. Life example I was on Facebook, I clicked on something by mistake, I t took me to App Store. And my only option was “to Continue”. I couldn’t not go back, no back arrow! . And when I put way the app and reopened it, it is still says continue. That is my only option!! Now what do I do? I don’t want to continue. I want to close the app?

it happens with all apps it go back to where I left off. Thank you for your help of any suggestions to get out of these loops.

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen but stop half way through to bring up the app switcher, then swipe the app screen shot up and off the screen to close it entirely.

It should restart the app, and in most cases return to the home page in the app.

I have the new iPhone 15 pro and when i go somewhere on safari, or use any app and then swipe it off the screen, And then click on it later, it still is open and takes me to where I left off. And sometimes I have 10-20 pages open?! When I put something away, I want it to close and go to home page. How can I scientist. What setting do I need to close a page or tab? Without having to go to the bottom os safari on right hand side there is a symbol that looks like 2 pages on top of each other and I ha to x that out and then I have to swipe up so many open tabs. It frustrating. It takes so many moves to go to the beginning and have a clean state. Thank you.
