Without prompting, MacBook Pro shuts down and restarts multiple times a day generating an error message each time

I took my MacBook pro to the Mac Store for help. They ran a diagnosis that didn’t show any hardware issues. They recommended I erase my hard drive, which I did, and restored from a backup copy.

I get an error message after each restart. Here are three of the many messages I get. I also ran EtreCheck and got a report, which is attached below.

Any advice on what I can do to correct this issue?

you have a lot of items under the heading: Unsigned Files.the correct number is ZERO in mist cases. Files that are not signed with a developer certificate may be very old or hacked copies.

You do not even have an external display connected, you have no need for DisplayLink software. if AppInventor/AiStarter is legitimate, it should be issued under a developer certificate. Microsoft Teams should have all items signed if your copy is up-to-date and legitimate.

Readers here love Malwarebytes for its huge list of malware patterns, to be run ONCE. No one loves a virus scanner running all the time, using up your resources. At a minimum, turn its scanning OFF. Better yet, remove it entirely.

if you need to be "present" on an Instutional network, the Institution will provide and support the VPN software for your use. Almost every other VPN use is not helpful for any reason, and especially not for improving security. all traces should be removed.

You have many more crashes than the ones that showed up on your screen, but you need some sanitizing FIRST.

When you have some things cleaned up a bit send us a new Etrecheck report.

did you see this early section?

Major Issues:

Anything that appears on this list needs immediate attention.

Proxies - Network proxies detected. This could be evidence of malware.

>> You almost certainly need to remove those proxies.

--------

you also have this:

Heavy CPU usage - Some processes are using an unusually high amount of CPU.

combined with:

Top Processes Snapshot by CPU:

Process (count) CPU (Source - Location)

top (5) 165.40 % (Apple). -- this is a process that watches CPU use, and

Top is your most-intensive CPU user at this writing

>> If you would stop watching all the time, you would have no shortage of CPU cycle remaining for your work.

Your issues are NOT caused by lack of compute power.

--------

you need to remove these. Yes, all of them:

Clean up:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.torch.update.agent.plist

/usr/local/libexec/TorchUpdater

/Library/LaunchAgents/us.zoom.pluginagent.plist

>> items with made-up names are typically caused by malware. Legitimate software dies not mask its identity.

--------

your 121 GB Boot disk is essentially full. One large burst of virtual memory activity could fill it completely, and the crash might be rather spectacular.

you to add need an external drive to hold additional files. If you need to maintain portability, you could use one like those shown in the next post.
